Techno nerd

I promised I would list my favorite songs and I will. First I'd like to heart technology. Retro is great in music but not in how it's heard. I remember listening to that wonderful music of the 50's and 60's on staticcy (made up my own word) car and transistor radios. Trying to find the station on a dial so small that if your finger twitched you missed the signal. Buttons that never got the signal dead on. Scratchy records even when listened to the first time. I knew a kid in school who's uncle worked for WHK. He said the station got specially made records that had no scratches. The stations got them for free but consumers could not get them, had to pay for inferior product. Cassettes were a dream. Actually listen to songs in an order you could choose, and pick the songs. Not have to listen for an hour for the two songs you liked in between 3 0r 4 crap songs in a row. Of course back then the dj's actually had personality and it was so much fun listening to them it was easy to ignore the crap songs. If cassettes were a dream cd's were heaven. You didn't realize all the hiss until it was gone. And wonder of wonders, random or shuffle play. You could be surprised by what song was next and it was always a great one. Finally mp3. Being able to listen to over 6 hours of songs without a repeat. The quality is slightly less than cd but to be able to use a player the size and weight of a deck of cards is worth the trade off. I'll post another time on TV, satellite radio, and the internet, but for now I've got to make that list of my favorite songs.
